[ London Xmas ] Chrystal Christmas Inspired by Swarovski

Continuing my photo journey of display windows at the famous department stores in London, I’ve arrived at Harrods. The theme of the Harrods Christmas window this year is Chrystal Christmas by Spina Design inspired by the famous Austrian crystal brand

… Swarovski. For more about Swarovski & their Crystal World in Innsbruck, see my previous post: [ Innsbruck ] Swarovski Kristallwelten

A stark contrast from the warm colors we saw in other windows like the ones at Fortnum & Mason and Liberty, the Harrods windows are very white and icy.

It’s suppose to have a sense of winter snow land forest, even its manikins are very pale and almost robotic-like.

The evening gowns exhibited here are very impressive though. I like this one!

If the windows are not predominately white, they are in a color that is still pretty cold and icy. Large crystal chandeliers is another theme in these windows.

I would say, in terms of “authenticity”, the Fortnum and Mason manikins look the most “real”. These ones look very much like fashion manikins.

This dress and the “crystal-like” thing on the manikin’s wrist is pretty amazing. Would definitely attract a lot of attention in a party.

Other windows have these small frames that look a bit “magical” to display small luxury items like watches, jewelry and other fashion accessories.

Not sure why but a lot of the manikins are on the floor, lying, crawling or sitting, etc. Maybe it looks very impressive from a distance. But not sure about its effect otherwise.

The white swan and the golden accessories match quite well… but again the manikins look kinda scary.

This is the white-themed crystal christmas. I remember seeing a cinematic spot (advert) of Swarovksi before a film (Jane Eyre) at a cinema a few months ago. I would never have thought Swaroski would advertise before the showing of a film. But there it was and it was so beautifully filmed and so in line with the Swarovski image that when the name Swarovski finally came on to the screen at the end of the 3-min cinematic spot, I just thought.. I knew it! The following is the cinematic spot:

Probably somewhat inspired the Harrods display as well.

Escada and another very much robotic-like display of manikin “cake”… very futuristic I must say!

Chanel and the crystalized display.

Inspiration from Swarovski and of course it has a big Swarovski display area/store right behind the windows so as you enter from the side, the first “store” you’d see is Swarovski.
