I’m busily catching up with fun after the end of a week-long non-stop exams. My first social event of the year has to do with baking! Bought two books over the break (couldn’t resist the Amazon temptations) and decided to take on the tea-theme cupcake from the Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days book. Other than the…
Earl Grey Cupcake Cake on the book, we also did matcha (green tea) and peppermint cupcakes.

Preparation for the cupcake day! Thanks to J for being the master pastry chef today, G for the tray and the flour!! (me LOL) & S for helping out! XD

Managed to get these cute silicone baking molds while I was shopping for some wine glass.

We made 3 kinds of tea cupcakes today – the traditional Earl Grey, Green Tea (Matcha) and Peppermint Tea cupcakes.

Green tea was challenging in the sense that you had to mix the powder into a paste for it to mix properly with the other things. Looks pretty cool!

Our pretty cupcakes right out of the oven.

Each flavor supposedly has a different flavored frosting to it (you add tea essence to the frosting mixture) but we only managed to do Earl Grey and Matcha because it was getting tiring and close to dinner time! xP

The Earl Grey Cupcakes with Earl Grey frosting. Need to work on our skills for frosting cupcakes! haha.

There’s a section in the Hummingbird book that tells you how to frost your cupcakes. We just used our kitchen table knives to do some basic frosting.

The gingerbread man ones are cute but somehow they had bulging bellies! Need to put some butter to grease the interior of the molds next time otherwise it’d be a bit hard to get them out even though they are silicone molds.

End our baking session for the day with a Lanson Rose Brut NV. Looking forward to our next round!
