[ Lake District ] Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel

UntitledWe decided to spend a night at a summer holiday home that was built in 1879 for a wealthy mill owner. The house was then rented out to mill owner’s friends for holidays. One of the most well known occupants is was the Beatrix Potter’s family. The house was later bought by Beatrix Potter for…her mother to live in. After her mother died, the house was sold several times to different people and several houses were built around it. The house is now owned by two retired businessman and now has 36 bedrooms, an in-house pool, leisure area for residents, restaurant, lounges, and private family accommodation for the owners.

We were somehow given The Potter Room for our evening. Rumour has it that this was the room that Beatrix Potter stayed in. Her mother also stayed in this room when she lived here.

The Potter Room was refurbished in 2009. Another deluxe suites in the hotel is the Westmorland Suite on the second floor.

The interior is quite new, clean and spacious. The bottom right photo is the library on the ground floor of the hotel. It’s kinda like a place where you can chill and drink some cocktails or order a proper meal.

The house overlooks Lake Windermere from a hill. This was taken from the window of our room.

More photos of the communal area in the house. It’s literally like someone’s home. Breakfast was included. But it’s pretty standard English full breakfast stuff.

The first day was quite sunny so we took a walk in the garden of the house after dinner.
