You can say I-Lan is a pretty “country” place in Taiwan and there’s not much “major attractions” where you’d go just come for them since this county has been an agriculture place all along. But there are some restaurants in I-Lan that are so well done that people from Taipei would drive all the way there for a dinner and… (contnue reading)

come back.

——————————————–

Today’s sunset is a bit awkward but interesting.

The whole building as the “classic” Chinese feel. The front door is an automatic door like the ones we see in conveninent store. But it’s made of wood and looks pretty heavy too.

The back garden of the restaurant. There’s an outdoor cafe and a separate building where people could rent those places for conventions and meetings.

Back Garden and the main building.

The menu for the set here is written on a small rice paper. They don’t tell us exactly what we’ll get until the dish comes onto the table, which is kinda a pleasant surprise every time.

I like the mint leave on the wet napkin.

The female washroom has a rather poetic and “classical” name.

Inside the washroom – the inteiror. The sink is actually that huge container on the floor. Water comes out like a fountain when you approach it.
Inside the washroom – when you can’t find the trash can, you’ll have to “search” for it and they have “hints”.

The view outside of the washroom and inside the restaurant.

Scallop salad, a cute container for soy sauce and vinegar (looks like something I can make myself) and fresh+see-through sashimi.

Sashimi in a very traditional-looking box. I think that’s some creative display of food.

Rice that tastes like pop-corn.

Abalone from the oceania.

“Crispy” fish eggs.
Chef heating or “baking” the seaweed for the hand roll.

Avacado hand roll with shrimp.

Soup with the small clams from the east coast of Taiwan (it’s quite famous for it).

Final dish! The desert was some special flavour of ice-cream which I was unable to eat. But the part that I could eat (white part) – the sweet pudding was pretty good.

The golden chandelier and the dark atmosphere felt a bit like the old medieval castles in Europe.
